Shannon Merciel joined the Omaha Symphony in 2023. She received her Bachelor of Music from the University of Missouri-Columbia and Master of Music from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Shannon is a dynamic performer appearing as an orchestral and chamber musician in the US and abroad. She performs with the St. Louis Symphony, Sarasota Orchestra, and St. Louis Chamber Soloists, and was recently a member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. Shannon is the cellist of Trio Doyenne, an internationally-formed piano trio founded in Glasgow in 2018, who appears in concert regularly in the UK and Europe and has been broadcasted on the National Radio of Lithuania. She also recently joined the resident orchestra at the Muny, a company that produces Broadway musicals in the largest outdoor amphitheatre in the US. Alongside performing, Shannon maintains a private studio of dedicated cello students out of her home in St. Louis. Outside of her musical work, Shannon enjoys eating delicious food and spoiling her tuxedo cat, Vinny.
