Melissa Pruss
Section Violin
Melissa Pruss is a 2001 graduate of DePaul University in Chicago where she completed a Bachelor of Music Performance degree, with honors, while studying with Joseph Genualdi. In 2000, Melissa was a member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. Prior to her time in Chicago, she played as associate principal Second violin of the Collegium Orchestra in Bonn, Germany, and studied violin and viola at the Meadowmount School, where she continues to be involved.
At age 27, Pruss won her position as section First violin with the Omaha Symphony. In addition to her work with the Omaha Symphony, she has been Professor of Violin and Viola at the College of St. Mary since 2005, and has taught upper strings at St. Wenceslaus School in West Omaha since 2006. Melissa has returned to school herself to pursue a Masters of Music Performance at the University of Nebraska-Omaha, studying with Mary Perkinson.
