Tchaikovsky Symphony No. 4

We know how to make merry here in Omaha, opening our second Masterworks with a celebration of celebrations and Anna Clyne’s Masquerade, premiered in 2013 at the BBC Proms to huge acclaim. Violinist Simone Porter, “[…] right up there with the finest interpreters of her generation” (Chicago Classical Review), dazzles with Prokofiev’s First Violin Concerto, a work that alternates between playful virtuosity and stunning romanticism. Finally, guest conductor Eric Jacobsen leads the orchestra through Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4, taking the listener from the opening call of Fate through the triumphant, heart-racing finale.
