Petrushka & La Valse

Conductor Pablo Rus Broseta returns to Omaha with three works designed to bewitch your senses. Stravinsky’s Petrushka, a ballet centered on the adventures and tribulations of a puppet-clown, is brought to life through the composer’s supreme use of the orchestra. You’ll feel a part of the action without need for set or dancers. Blake Pouliot, “one of those special talents that comes along once in a lifetime” (Toronto Star), makes his Omaha debut with Bruch’s beloved Violin Concerto in G Minor. Finally, Ravel reinvents the waltz as a living, breathing thing, taking it to unpredictable new heights and watching it spectacularly crash down in La Valse.
