Grieg's Peer Gynt Suite

Joslyn Art Museum - Sunday, March 24

Grieg’s best-loved work – memorable for the calm beauty of “Morning Mood” and the frenzied “In the Hall of the Mountain King” – headlines a program that opens with Mozart’s dramatic serenade played by the Omaha Symphony’s virtuosic wind musicians. Bartók’s work for strings pays homage to his Hungarian roots, with turns that sound like Handel being coerced into a gypsy dance. Joan Tower’s Chamber Dance weaves the orchestra through a tapestry of solos and duets.
