JoAnn Falletta takes the podium for the first time as Principal Guest Conductor, kicking off the Omaha Symphony’s 2025/26 Season with an electrifying celebration across multiple centuries. John Adams’ exhilarating Short Ride in a Fast Machine sets the stage for virtuoso pianist George Li, making his Omaha debut. Li, with his combination of “staggering technical prowess, a sense of command and depth of expression” (Washington Post), gives us Omaha’s first performance of Scriabin’s hyper-romantic Piano Concerto. Finally, we close with Tchaikovsky’s turbulent yet triumphant Symphony No. 5, filling the hall with sweeping emotions and one of the most famous horn solos in the symphonic repertoire. Don’t miss this powerhouse start to a new era in Omaha Symphony history!
